Don't Worry, Be Happy

The biggest thing that caught my attention in part I of "Notes From the Underground" was the fact that no matter what he's doing or who he is, he is never happy. Many times in the boom he talks about how he wishes he was a "stupid man". In the Underground Man's point of view he thinks that if he becomes this "stupid man" than he would be able to enjoy things and finally be happy. But the very next sentence The UM talks about how he would hate himself be he was a "stupid man" because than he wouldn't have his own conscience, and he can't let that go since it kinda seems like that's the only thing that really defines him. Hence the title and song in this post. So Underground Man, I say to you, Don't Worry, Be Happy.

(BTW one of the best songs in the world)

  1. I 100% agree with what you have to say about the underground man. He basically tries to make his life as miserable as he can. If i were him i would be the complete opposite of how he is now. He's also very confusing with how always changes his mind at the most unexpected moments. It's sure going to be on the most interesting book we've read once we complete it.

  2. Toby this is what I’ve been trying to tell the underground man the whole time I was reading it. He needs to see that he is right sometime so he can make clear decisions so people can trust him. It will also really help to be happy. This is an awesome post, I really like nice job.
